The Crisis in Modern Kingdom Leadership
One of the most disconcerting phenomena we observe among Kingdom leaders today is a troubling shift away from servant leadership toward self-preservation. Too often, leaders become more preoccupied with safeguarding their own position, authority, or personal comfort than with sincerely addressing the needs of those they guide.
As I travel and minister in different nations, I've witnessed this disjunction manifest in several concerning ways that demand our attention and prayerful response.
Understanding the Leadership Disconnect
The Empathy Gap
Modern Kingdom leaders frequently struggle to connect on a personal level, overlooking the everyday difficulties faced by their constituents. This lack of understanding fosters alienation and reduces the leader's effectiveness. When leaders operate from an ivory tower mentality, they risk becoming irrelevant to those they're called to serve.
Prioritizing Personal Agendas Over Kingdom Purposes
The temptation to focus on institutional goals rather than community needs has become increasingly prevalent. Leaders often find themselves pursuing metrics and milestones while overlooking the very people they're meant to serve. This misalignment can result in:
- Programs that don't address real needs
- Resources allocated to non-essential projects
- Disconnection from community concerns
- Loss of ministry effectiveness
